Driving from Port Macquarie, via Laurieton, to Sydney Airport (well, the Mantra hotel). This is about 410km/250mi. Chapter marks below. It can be done in just under 4hr but this drive is a bit longer as: [1] I joined the Pacific Highway at Laurieton (instead of at Port) and, [2] I drove over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and took the surface roads to the airport instead of taking the more direct tunnel & Eastern Distributor. Costs in Nov. 2025: Road tolls: $10.25 (M11) + $10.25 (M2) + $4.16 (LCT) + $3.30 (SHB) = $27.96. Petrol at Heatherbrae was 190.9¢/L (98RON) 0:00:15 ... Ocean Drive widening almost completed 0:08:15 ... Lake Cathie 0:15:35 ... Bonny Hills 0:23:30 ... North Haven 0:26:20 ... Laurieton 0:32:40 ... Kew 0:35:30 ... Joining the M1 Pacific Highway 0:40:50 ... Johns River 0:46:10 ... Moorland 1:01:10 ... Taree (south)/Services exit 1:23:20 ... Coolongolook (Cherry Pie Café ... yum!) 1:38:25 ... Buladelah exit 1:56:15 ... The Rock Roadhouse exit 2:18:00 ... Start of Heatherbrae Bypass works 2:34:10 ... Restarting the M1 Pacific Highway 3:41:40 ... Entering the M11 Northconnex tunnel ($10.25 toll) 3:44:30 ... Pretty M11 tunnel lights 3:49:10 ... Joining the M2 Hills Motorway ($10.25 toll) 3:56:00 ... Lane Cove Tunnel ($4.16 toll) 4:08:00 ... Harris Street exit 4:01:30 ... Start of Warringah Freeway Upgrade 4:04:30 ... Sydney Harbour Bridge ($3.30 toll) The drive used to be a lot more interesting as you had to drive through towns like Buladelah and Taree, but these are now bypassed like Heatherbrae will be.
