A signal meter allows you to find the signal level for each band and channel each carrier is using. This simply isn't possible on your phone. Your cell phone will only show the carrier and signal level for that specific carrier. This is just one of the great reasons to use a signal meter. You can also use your signal meter as a director to find the direction the signal is coming from. This is very hand in locating a cell tower and can be used to direct the donor antenna toward that tower for the best connection.
