What I found when I got there was more than just a strange structure… it was part of a forgotten chapter in the story of the American West. As I explored the site, it became clear that this was no ordinary structure. Evidence suggested it was once part of a uranium mining operation, long abandoned and now slowly being reclaimed by nature. Abandoned mines like this one can be fascinating, eerie, and beautiful—but also incredibly dangerous. Collapsing structures, toxic air, and vertical drops are just some of the risks.
