In this week's Weed Report, cannabis influencer and air personality Doc Holiday takes a look at Novarine, a 80/20 Sativa cross between Landrace Thai + Carpichosa Thai. This a strain that was breed for a purpose. Many people are familiar with tasty Thai sticks which is the traditional way to dry buds. Carpichosa Thai is rich in a specific THC, THC-V, but is not very potent (15% THC). THC-V has some medical properties such as appetite suppression and a feeling of fullness. Novarine preserves those as well as anti-anxiety properties and nearly doubles the potency of Carpichosa Thai to 28.3% THC. The buds are large, chunky and spongy, a nice light green color with yellow, brown and gold highlights and a frosty dusting of terpenes. "That rich Thai smell fills the room as soon as you pop the jar," says Doc Holiday. The smell is piney, herbal and spicy with floral notes and a hint of citrus and anise. The terpene profile is Linalool (floral), Myrcene (herbal), and equal parts of Pinene (pine), Limonene (citrus) and Caryophyllene (spice). "You get a little old-school Thai Stick flavor. A bit more spice. Really flesh and flavorful in the mouth," says Doc Holiday. It comes on strong, energizing and euphoric. "I really get the THC-V thing. I fell full, just like I finished a Jersey Mike sub, but also very tranquil and satisfied," says Doc Holiday. It's easy to see why it is flying off the shelves. "I bought a half an ounce for $127 at Jack's in Pittsfield, MA. A tremendous value," says Doc Holiday. I give it a conservative 6.5 out of 7. "I have reservations because I have such fond recollections of Thai Stick from back in the day. This is there but not quite there," says Doc Holiday.
