Balasore: Continuous harassment by teacher, no action by principal, girl dies after self-immolation

Tragedy struck Balasore, Odisha, on July 14th with the death of a 20-year-old female student from FM Autonomous College. The student, who had filed a sexual harassment complaint against a professor at the college, succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained after setting herself on fire on campus on July 12th. The incident occurred shortly after she met with the college principal. AIIMS Bhubaneswar confirmed the student's death late on July 14th. Her death has prompted widespread outrage and calls for justice. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his profound sadness in a post on X, stating, "I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of the female student from FM Autonomous College...
