I Walked To St. Peter's Square To Say GoodBye To Pope Francis

Buongiorno, I'm Arlene an American who moved to Rome in 2008 and a woman of a "certain age". Welcome back to my new channel, My Bittersweet Life/My Mia Vita Agrodolce. This channel is about all things Italiano, lifestyle, and Saint Martin/Anguilla. I usually post longer videos on the first and third Sunday of the month and a Short on the second and fourth Sunday. However, today was Pope Francis's (or Papa Francesco as we say in Italy) funeral. I walked from my neighborhood to St. Peter's Square and joined 500,000 people, from all over the world, to say goodbye. I'm not a fan of crowds, nor Catholic, but I needed to go. It was foggy in my area and by the time I arrived in Vatican City, the sun was out. It was a gorgeous spring morning. I visited Italy for the first twenty years ago this very month. Pope John Paul II had died and the funeral was going to take the place during the same week as my trip. Many people in Los Angeles told me I should cancel my vacation. That Rome was a chaotic city and with the funeral it would be worse. I kept my plans and that trip changed my life. Today was an emotional day, especially seeing Pope Francis's procession. #popefrancis #italy #rome
