A second edition of this film festival is now touring. For more info about upcoming screenings, check https://www.pastoralistfilmfestival.com/ The Perspectives on Pastoralism Film Festival seeks to deepen understanding of how diverse peoples across the world gain their livelihoods from extensive livestock production. The relationships between pastoralist people, their animals and their food production systems reflect an intimate intertwining of culture, economy and ecology in highly variable environments, such as drylands and mountainous regions. In such environments, mobility of herds plays a key role. Films of multiple genres – spanning documentary, narrative and experimental – made by pastoralists and/or about pastoralists offer different insights into issues important to pastoralists. This film festival opens the possibility for showcasing visual media that will spark dialogue and inspire debate. The first edition screened in Kassel (Germany), Brussels (Belgium) and Ghent (Belgium) from 2019-2022, along with some complimentary online events such as at the Global Landscapes Forum, the LANDac conference and the International Grasslands and Rangelands Congress. This second edition of the film festival was launched on 14-15 September 2022 during the Tropentag conference in Prague, Czech Republic (https://www.tropentag.de/conference/f...) and is touring across the globe from 2022 onwards.
