We all know that 1 out of 6 couple present with infertility and infertility is usually caused by either male factor or a female factor. Male factor contributes to about 30% and female factor to about 30% and combined male and female factor is about 20%. The remaining 10% is unexplained sperm abnormalities may be caused by one or more of the following like inflammation of the testicles, infections like mumps, tuberculosis, swollen veins in the scrotum which is called as varicocoele, abnormally developed testicles and abdominal placed testis, preexisting genetic conditions, alcohol intakes, smoking, drug habits, hormonal disorders, exposure to radiation or use of chemotherapeutic drugs in case of malignancy, blockage of vas deferens due to infection or because of surgeries in the testis or in the groin region. The other problems than men can present is ejaculatory disturbances which can be premature ejaculation or retrograde ejaculation where semen is forced back in the bladder and the other one called be erectile dysfunction. All this could be associated with diabetes or hypertension in the patient. Management usually depends on the cause, a complete evaluation of the male partner by the anthologist is required which requires a semen analysis, a hormonal evaluation, scrotal ultrasound followed by specific treatment.
