Who are you? God asks us this question even today.✨ Jacob always ran away. He avoided his brother Esau and his uncle Laban. But that night, God caught hold of him. God wrestled with Jacob and let himself be defeated. For the first time, Jacob did not run away. "I am Jacob." He no longer wanted to be Esau. The moment he acknowledged himself, he became 'Israel'. In Jesus, the old has passed away and the new has come. Let's remember: we are children of God. It's okay not to be perfect. It's okay to be weak. Let's confront ourselves before God and walk boldly. Key Points of Sermon Summary Content Summary ✦ From a life of avoidance to forced confrontation: God caught Jacob, who used to run away whenever problems arose, through wrestling and prevented him from avoiding anymore ✦ Recovery of identity and a new name: giving Jacob, who boldly confessed his name, a new identity called "Israel" and blessing him Jacob's Transition from Avoidance to Confrontation ✦ Breaking free from negative avoidance patterns: breaking away from the past of wanting to be Esau, deceiving his own identity, and running away from problematic situations ✦ Change to an active confrontational attitude: wrestling with God to the end, clinging until receiving blessing, and having courage to accept himself as he is Lessons for Us ✦ Actively confronting God: not turning away from God's calling but actively responding, experiencing the love that lets us win within Word and prayer ✦ Accepting our identity as it is: honestly laying out our weak parts before God and living with the boldness enjoyed through meeting with God
