Everybody wants a tiny little scar and all of their extra skin removed, but that's not how it works unfortunately. We always have a lot of different options for you on the surgical and non-surgical side for pretty much every part of the body. But being realistic is very important. There's a big difference in some patients that have a lot of extra skin versus loose muscles versus fat. It also varies widely depending on the body area we’re talking about. Is it the face? The neck? The abdomen, the chest? And finally, it really does depend how old you are. Young skin is much different than really old sun damaged skin that's lost a lot of its collagen and elasticity. The neck is a great example of this. It really depends on what you have going on. If you're on the younger side with good skin tone, a bit of fat and don't have a lot of extra skin, Kybella, the non-surgical liposuction approach is a great option for your neck. If you have mostly extra skin without much fat, sadly there's nothing as dramatic as a full scar neck lift. But I get that most people don’t want that scar. And there's nothing wrong with that! Between these two extremes are a lot of different options from mini facelift to lift the neck upward, mini neck lift in the middle, lateral mini neck lift to lift the neck out at the side, laser treatments, microneedling, chemical peels and the list goes on and on. I've seen so many patients waste thousands of dollars elsewhere getting absolutely zero results because someone talked him into spending $5000 on micro needling and they saw no result. Not every option works for every person. Bottom line is you need to have an honest conversation with your plastic surgeon. Please be your own advocate. My mama taught me a long time ago, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. So please remember that one small tiny scar with all the extra skin being removed, that's just not how it works!
