Unlike antiferromagnetics,ferrimagnetics are composed of two or more sets of different transition metal ions;there are generally different number of ions in each set. Though the electron spins of opposing groups do partially cancel, still present a net magnetization which can be quite large. The molecular field theory of ferrimagnetism has been discussed on the line of the theory of Antiferromagnetism. Expression for the magnetic susceptibility has been obtained. It’s found that above the Curie temperature the magnetic susceptibility decreases with increasing temperature.Apart from certain details, seems that the molecular field theory,due to Neel,describes all the observations quite well.
