Hot Tub with Heat Pump 4 Years of Operation

This is a review of my Hot Tub Heat Pump hack that I did over 4 years ago. The goal of the project was to re-purpose a free hot tub and heat it more efficiently using a Heat Pump. I am using a Crosswind-30-I for the heat. Of course there are more benefits to using less power than saving money. Another is the circuit size that I had to dedicate for this. A traditional spa might require 40 or even a 50 Amp circuit where I can get away with a 15A circuit. Given the distance of the Spa from my home panel, I had to run a few hundred feet of wire and simply using 12 AWG for a 20A circuit saves a ton of money right up front. Also consider you rarely ever need 100% of the heat output from a restive heater during normal operations so your electrical system is way over provisioned just for the those few times where you are trying to heat the tub up from ambient after you refill it.
