Chenoa Tremblay | Billions of Stars, One Question: Radio Astronomy and the Search for Life

Over 65 years after the experimental phase began, we are still discovering new ways to search for life, seeking to understand our place in the universe and whether we are alone. Typically, searches are divided into two categories: the search for techno-signatures, which assumes that a civilization is at least as advanced as our own, and the search for biosignatures as molecules, which may include signs of primitive life or seeds for it. The use of advanced computing and improved algorithms is enabling us to push the boundaries of survey science beyond what has ever been possible in the past. This presentation will focus on my work at the intersection of computing, chemistry, and physics when searching for life elsewhere in the Universe and its origins.
