This stretch of the N2 highway is known for its lush forests, dramatic mountain passes, coastal lagoons, and charming towns - and for us it’s one of the most unforgettable drives in the country. Our journey begins in Great Brak River, a quiet coastal village built around a river, with views of mountains and beaches. From there, we take a detour into the city of George, cruising down the bustling main streets to grab some snacks at the Outeniqua Lifestyle Centre - a new local favourite with great food and friendly vibes. Then it’s back onto the N2, where the road winds down the Kaaimans River Pass, with views of the forested cliffs and rivers below. We pass through the laid-back beach town of Wilderness, glide by the tranquil waters of Sedgefield, and finally roll into Knysna, one of the gems of the Garden Route. Our destination: Thesen Island, a peaceful marina neighbourhood with cafés, boutiques, and beautiful views over the Knysna Lagoon.
