This video is a compilation of a series of shorts filmed in October 2025. The original sequence of videos contained chronological extracts from Tchaikovsky’s diary, detailing the great composer’s meeting with Brahms and Grieg, in Leipzig, on New Year’s Day 1888 with Matthew King’s reflections on Tchaikovsky’s comments. These were released on the channel as a ‘miniseries and then, following requests by viewers to imitate the example of Charles Dickens and put the series into a long-form video, Matthew King and Ian Coulter have assembled the shorts into chapters, along with a new Autumnal Epilogue, filmed specially for the new video.
