Where it is Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost main island. It’s one of Japan’s largest cities but feels more spacious and modern than Tokyo or Osaka. Over 2 million visitors come for this event alone. Sapporo Beer It’s the home of Sapporo Beer, one of Japan’s oldest and most famous beer brands. You can visit the Sapporo Beer Museum and try fresh draft beer in the beer garden. Food you must try Sapporo ramen – especially miso ramen with rich broth. Soup curry – spicy soup + rice + big pieces of vegetables and meat. Seafood – super fresh crab, uni (sea urchin) and salmon from Hokkaido waters. Famous sights Odori Park – long park in the city center; main site of the Snow Festival. Sapporo TV Tower – viewpoint over Odori Park. Susukino – nightlife and entertainment district. Shiroi Koibito Park – chocolate factory/park of the famous Hokkaido cookie. Nearby nature Ski resorts like Niseko, Teine, and Kokusai are reachable from Sapporo. Hot springs (onsen) in Jozankei make an easy day trip. City layout & vibe Streets are in a simple grid system, easy to navigate (North/South/East/West blocks).
