Duracell LP-E6 BMPCC 4k Battery Test

I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the Cannon or Blackmagic LP-E6 for my new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k. From others videos some of the cheaper batteries didn't even power on the camera. I found Duracell's DR9943 for only £19.99 with free delivery online at https://www.duracelldirect.co.uk//pno... and decided to give it a try. For the test I recorded in 4k Ultra HD, Film with Blackmagic Raw 12:1 to a Samsung T5 SSD starting with each battery fully charged and noted the time till the battery switched off. The Duracell had a lower capacity at 1600mAh compared to the Blackmagic battery with a capacity of 2000mAh. It wasn't surprising that the Duracell battery lasted for 32 minutes and 29 seconds compared to the Blackmagic battery which lasted for 39 minutes and 37 seconds (however given the difference in capacity this was to be expected). What I wasn’t expecting was a battery percentage display on the Duracell battery, when the manufacturer supplied battery makes do with only 4 bars. The Duracell battery however shut off at 18% (only 54 seconds after the red warning starting at 20%), while the Blackmagic battery lasted 8 minutes and 23 seconds on the final red bar. In summary the Duracell DR9943 Replacement Canon LP-E6 Battery seems to work very well in the BMPCC 4K and at the price is an absolute bargain. You would however need to plan for the battery running out at 20% rather than at 0% (not sure if this is related to the lower capacity than the manufacturers battery affecting the accuracy of the displayed percentage). Also it is important to remember that this test only reflects how two brand new batteries performed in a single test so doesn’t take account degradation over time and charger to charge variation.
