By Masauso Mkwayaya State House has called on young people to direct their energy towards promoting peace and national development. Special Assistant to the President for Politics, LEVY NGOMA, says State House remains open to dialogue on progressive issues and economic matters aimed at keeping the country on a steady development path. Mr. NGOMA said this at State House when he met eight young people who walked more than 600 kilometres over 17 days from Solwezi to LUSAKA to promote peace and unity. He described the youths’ initiative as commendable and said it should serve as an example to others across the country. Mr. NGOMA also disclosed that Government plans to undertake major infrastructure projects in North-Western Province, including the construction of a public university, a hospital in Solwezi, and improvements to road infrastructure. He added that the development of the mining sector in the province will continue under President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA. Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the President for Policy Compliance, JOSEPH LUNGU, said Government will in 2026 focus on strengthening regional and local economies. Ministry of Youth Permanent Secretary KANGWA CHILESHE commended the young people for their commitment, support and civic engagement. Speaking on behalf of the group, JOHN KIMBA said the youths stand with President HICHILEMA in promoting peace and stability. Mr. KIMBA said Government policies have contributed to a peaceful environment that continues to attract investment into the country. And group member GAHARAHARSHIM MPUNUNYAWU said the journey was prompted by violent incidents in Chingola. Mr. MPUNUNYAWU said the group was encouraged by the support received from small-scale miners in Chingola, who expressed remorse and asked that an apology be conveyed to President HICHILEMA over the incident.
