Elaine Treharne is Professor of Humanities and English at Stanford University. A Welsh medievalist, she specializes in manuscript studies, archives, information technologies, and early British literature. As a 2024-25 Stanford Impact Labs Design Fellow, she designed a universal archival toolkit for the permanent preservation of people's stories and their documentary heritage. Guided by a mission of partnering with communities to put social science to work for society, Stanford Impact Labs (SIL) invests to learn what works in designing, testing, and scaling solutions; trains scholars and practitioners to harness data and evidence for impact; and promotes a culture of public impact in higher education.
