This tutorial demonstrates how to read data into the R environment (i.e., import data) using the read.csv function. The read.csv function comes standard with the base R install, which means that installation of an outside package is not required. The comma separated values (.csv) file format is a common data file format, and the read.csv function makes it relatively straightforward to read in conventionally sized .csv files.
