Gary's topic is 'Exploring Airmail Jusqu’à Auxiliary Marks'. The purpose of the Jusqu’a handstamps was to indicate how far air transmission was applicable and in some cases how further transport had to take place. The usage is spread over a long period, from 1919 till mid 50-ies when air transport became very common and mail was carried all the way by air. Gary Wayne Loew, FRPSL, is a lifelong philatelist and a widely published philatelic author, with nearly 100 articles, columns, and book reviews in print. He is the former Director of Expertizing at the American Philatelic Society, and retired Editor-in-Chief of the The American Philatelist. He is a life member of the APS, a fellow of the RPSL, and a member of the Writers Unit 30 and several dozen other philatelic societies. He is a frequent speaker and has taught numerous courses in postal history. Gary digitized the journals for the U.S. Philatelic Classics Society and the U.S. Stamp society as well as the complete run of the U.S. Postal Bulletins. He has an extensive stamp and postal history collection, built over seven decades. He specializes in the postal history of the British Empire but is interested in everything about philately.
