Just recently I rediscovered my childhood passion, blowguns. It is a fair compensation for my love for bows and arrows, which I can't practice as much as before due to my bad back. Anyway, recently I made my self few blowguns and started to experiment with them, making all kind of practice and hunting darts. I tried paper cones, tape cones etc. and different kind of tips. After several tries, It came to mi mind that I could use something called vacuum glass holders (in my language, translated to English), used for distancing and protecting the glass from contact with other materials. I managed to find one type, 14 mm wide, and tested it in my 12 mm blowgun. Naturally, I used 12 mm punch to shape it to the correct size. And the test went fantastic. I learned also how to apply any color to the cap, making the darts differently marked for different purposes, as well as making them more visible outdoors. After that, I got the idea to create a tip according to my tools and materials I have access to. So here's the result. They are deadly! I tested them on a dead chicken from 5 m distance and they go through the chicken almost all the way. Forgive me for not making video about this, but I really have no whish of shooting and posting videos with dead animals. It's just tasteless... Now it takes me up to ten minutes to make one using tools and materials shown in this video. MATERIALS: Welding wire, usually in 1 m long shafts, I use various gauges, from 1.6 to 2.2 mm Cutter knife blade; any kind will do. Use new ones, clean them from oil when you take them out of the box Silicone Vacuum Holders; you should be able to find those in various sizes and colors online or in your hardware shop. Piece aluminum adhesive tape. TOOLS: Rotary tool Rotary and grinding cuter bits Steel punch Hammer or two Sharpie Pliers and vise grip locking pliers Let me know what do you think about this in comments. Thanks for watching.
