Ok gang, This chant is from 900ad. Molokaʻi. Years ago I was a member of John Kaʻimikauaʻs hula halau "Kukunaokala".John was an expert on Molokai History and hula. He created ʻKa Hula Piko" or "the center of the dance". Not being a dancer made it very hard to do and maintain. I was able to perform with the halau at several Ka Hula Pikoʻs. I was interested in the stories and historic value of a culture I had no reference of ever, though it was Hawaiian. I loved the halau and the members of it. I recall being in it for 6 years until itʻs term ran out here on Molokai and the Oahu members of what is left of the halau, as John had passed already, dissolved this leg of the halau. It is an ancient hula termed "kahiko". This chant was an epic time in Molokaʻi history. As this is a chant and I am not a chanter, I just make music, I did not want to forget this chant so I learned it in music, the way I know ok and like, lol. The dance of this chant was only learned by a few members, I was one of them. Donʻt ask me to do it now, I'm a player not a dancer. Ok letʻs go....
