#GhanaParliament #AfenyoMarkin #SammiAwuku #Agenda111 #YouthUnemployment #IMFReport #GoldBOD #BankOfGhana #GhanaPolitics #24HourEconomy #CylinderRecirculation #LPGPolicy Tensions rose in Ghana’s Parliament as several MPs delivered fiery contributions on key national issues ranging from healthcare, youth unemployment, economic accountability, and energy policy. Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah slammed the Majority for what he described as constant “lamentations” instead of decisive action to fix Ghana’s physician shortage and improve working conditions for doctors. Gushegu MP Alhassan Tampuli highlighted the neglect of Agenda 111 hospital projects, calling it a missed opportunity to expand healthcare access. He proposed leveraging the 1-3-3 model under the 24-hour economy framework to help address the shortage of health professionals. Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin also lashed out at the Majority Leader over the postponement of Motion 57 regarding IMF report concerns about GoldBOD and the Bank of Ghana. Despite the Minority’s smaller numbers, he declared they are ready to confront the issue head-on. Meanwhile, Sammi Awuku, MP for Akuapem North, criticized government youth employment initiatives, describing many of them as “Instagram solutions” that appear impressive online but lack real impact. He warned that nearly 50% of youth in Greater Accra are unemployed and described the Youth Employment Agency structure as a “recycle of unemployment.” On energy and environmental sustainability, Charles Asiedu (MP for Tano South) urged the government to revitalize the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company to increase LPG usage nationwide and reduce dependence on charcoal and firewood. Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor revealed that $6 million out of the required $8 million has already been mobilized to retool the factory. The initiative aims to produce cylinders locally and eventually ban imports. Alhassan Tampuli also expressed Minority support for the cylinder recirculation model, widely used across Africa, where empty gas cylinders are exchanged for filled ones. Watch the full breakdown of the heated parliamentary debate and the key policy issues shaping Ghana’s future. 👍 Like | 💬 Comment | 🔔 Subscribe for more updates from Ghana’s Parliament.
