An introduction to digital audio workstations (DAWs), with an overview about their (possible) components, and considerations about what is important in building your own DAW. DAW is most commonly used to describe software--Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton, etc.--but the term "digital audio workstation" can also refer to the entire configuration of hardware and software used in the production of digital audio. To that end, a DAW might include: a computer, DAW software, an audio interface, plug-ins, monitoring equipment (like speakers or headphones), a mixing console, a control surface, MIDI controllers, and external effects. What your DAW contains will depend on its purpose, and so a workstation for producing a podcast will be different than that of an EDM musician will be different than a studio for recording live music. #DAW #DigitalAudioWorkstation #DigitalAudio 0:00 Introduction, Defining DAWs 0:45 What's in a DAW? 1:48 Audio Interfaces 3:07 DAW Software 4:14 Wrapping Up, What should you get?
