UET LAHORE 100 Years of Academic Excellence

History of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) - 100 years of academic excellence. Video Presented in the UET centennial celebrations event by UET Alumni of Canada in Toronto on March 19, 2022. The University of Engineering and Technology is located in the northern part of Lahore City, of Province Punjab of Pakistan, on the historical "Grand Trunk Road (G.T. Road)", near the magnificent Shalimar Gardens built during the great Mughal Empire. The institution started its tumultuous journey in 1921 as the ‘ Mughalpura Technical College ’. Later it became the ‘Maclagan Engineering College’, a name given to it in 1923 when Sir Edwards Maclagan, the then Governor of Punjab who laid the foundation stone of the main building, now called the Main Block, which still retains its majesty despite the wear and tear of over eight decades. At that stage, the institution offered courses of study in only two disciplines; Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. UETAC aims to provide valuable experience and lifelong productive association with the University. UTEAC will work to advance the interests of the University and help develop a strong network of alumni throughout the world. Our goals include helping UET graduates gain positions of strength, and assisting alumni in integrating into the engineering profession in Canada, thus effectively contributing to the economy of our new country. UETAC will also support UET in its efforts to stay current in teaching and research programs, establish scholarships for students to support excellence and help UET build state-of-the-art labs and classrooms. We also aim to participate in UET’s efforts to continually renew its vision to meet ever-changing challenges in engineering and technology. As an Alumni Association, UETAC also aims to develop a substantial endowment that will help propel the UET to the forefront among the institutes of higher learning in the world. Together we can make a difference. For career progressions, advancement, and integration of newcomer UET Graduates into the Canadian engineering field, the UETAC Professional Development Committee arranges several Seminars and Webinars. The Professional Development Committee webinars recorded versions can be watched on UETAC YouTube Channel (linked below). These webinars are beneficial to UETIANS planning to immigrate to Canada and want to know the engineering career in CANADA.
