How Do AI Personalities Affect Us? | Ars Electronica Futurelab

How human can AI seem before it crosses the line into the uncanny? How do we want to interact with autonomous systems? These are some of the questions behind "Alter.Ego": What looks like a simple arcade game is a machine with shifting AI personalities. As a player, you have to talk "Alter.Ego" into cooperating to receive a gift-bearing ball. "Alter.Ego" is the third installation of the collaboration between Ars Electronica Futurelab and AI start-up Godot. The different prototypes built over the years focus on exploring human-AI interaction and fostering the transparent use of AI. The claw machine invites visitors to examine how personality shapes communication and how our own behaviour is influenced by our counterpart.
