This is the first video on a series on Judaism: The Practices designed to support teaching and learning of the AQA Religious Studies GCSE Course Specification A 3.1.7 Judaism. This video is all about Halakah - the Jewish Law. Halakah translates as "the way" and it is all encompassing: covering all aspects of Jewish life. This video explains what it is and how different Jews understand and interpret the law and apply it to their lives. We will discuss the sources of Law for Jews, the Tenakh, made up of the Torah, Nevi'im and Ketuvim and and the Talmud, and all of its components, including the Mishnah and the Gemara. We will see how Orthodox and Reform Jews interpret these laws differently as they ask the question, "What does G-d require of me?" In this series we will also learn about: Kashrut, the food laws The Synagogue Tefillah - prayer Shabbat Brit Milah Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah Marriage Death, Mourning and Funerals Rosh Hashanah Yom Kippur and Pesach (Passover)
