Yield monitoring is an important part of assessing how a season has gone. In the grains industry this can be a relatively easy task to accomplish, however, in potatoes this is a bit harder. Join the PotatoLink team as we speak with Vee Gururajan from HarvestEye and Abe Montano from Elders as they explain the new technological developments that may make accurate, GPS based, yield monitoring an easy activity in potato production. PotatoLink (PT20000 - Potato industry extension and communications program) is the extension and communication project for the Australian potato industry. It is being led by Applied Horticultural Research (AHR) with funding through Hort Innovation using the Potato - Fresh and Processing - research and development levies and contributions from the Australian Government. Hort Innovation is the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australian horticulture 00:00 - 03:47 Introduction 03:48 - 07:57 Yield mapping challenges 07:58 - 11:03 HarvestEye's solution to yield mapping 11:04 - 22:11 How does HarvestEye work? 22:12 - 24:33 The issue of stacking 24:34 - 28:19 Accuracy of the system 28:20 - 29:46 the aims of HarvestEye in Australia 29:47 - 31:33 Data generated by HarvestEye 31:34 - 37:01 Yield mapping in Australia 37:02 Questions and Answers
