Interior: Inside, the Spheres house more than 40,000 plants representing about 400 species from cloud forests across over 30 countries. Notable specimens include a 55-foot-tall fig tree and rare or endangered plants. Design elements: The largest sphere contains a four-story “living wall” with 25,000 plants, waterfalls, terrariums, and unique meeting spaces such as a wood-slatted “bird’s nest.” The climate is carefully controlled to mimic a rainforest, set at 72°F and 60% humidity during the day. Purpose: The Spheres were conceived to provide employees with a workspace that fosters creativity and well-being by connecting them with nature—a sharp contrast to typical urban office environments. Public access: While primarily reserved for Amazon employees, limited public access is available through scheduled tours and a ground-floor exhibit. Reservations are required and spots are limited. To visit the Amazon Spheres in Seattle, you'll need to make a reservation for a public visit, which is available on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Reservations can be made on the Seattle Spheres website 15 days in advance.
