CA Kaiser Layoffs & AI Replacing Workers Threatens Patient Health: NNU CNA SF Kaiser Nurses Protest

In a statewide action on September 23, 2025 Kaiser hospital nursers who are members of NNU CNA rallied against the layoffs and introduction Of AI which they say isthreatening patients care throughout the system. In San Francisco at the Kaiser hospital on Geary St. nurses talked about how they are being affected by the layoffs and why the $18 billion that Kaiser made in profit is not going to bringing in better care, new beds and building a new hospital in San Francisco. They also reported that Kaiser is using AI to get rid of healthcare workers responding to patients requests and instead are using AI robots to answer their questions. They also reported that there is no regulation in the introduction of AI at the Kaiser hospitals. Also, speakers reported that there is no oversight and regulation of the introduction of AI by California and the legislature. OSHA and Department of Public Health have not protected the healthcare industry at Kaiser. There are only 200 Ca OSHA inspectors for California's 18 million workers and Kaiser has already been fined millions of dollars for violating the law by not having timely medical appointments for mental healthcare issues.
