7 Things I'm Doing Differently on My SECOND BDR Motorcycle Camping Trip

Last summer I went on my very first multi-night motorcycle camping adventure tackling the Washington BDR. I learned a ton on that trip and now that I'm preparing for another adventure motorcycle camping trip on the Oregon BDR this year, I'm making some changes to my approach to hopefully ensure a much smoother motorcycle camping trip as we tackle the much more difficult ORBDR. It's easy to make mistakes when you are on your first BDR trip, but hopefully you gain some wisdom to make changes to your BDR gear loadout to make your second Backcountry Discovery Route motorcycle trip much more enjoyable. This year on my second BDR I'm making the following changes: 1. I'm taking a dual sport instead of an adventure bike 2. I have a completely different motorcycle camping gear philosophy 3. My BDR gear loadout is much lighter 4. I'm not riding to the beginning of the route 5. I know the Oregon BDR route much better 6. I have spent a ton more time on BDR planning 7.
