A mantra is a word or phrase that is believed to have a sacred meaning and power. Mantras are typically quite short, in order to make repetition easy. The actual practice is easy after you've made your decision: Take a sitting, relaxed position. Your spine should be as straight as possible, and your whole body should be as calm as possible. Close your eyes and get to relax once more. Start internally repeating the mantra with your eyes closed. Repeat it in a calm, soft, and accessible (mental) tone. Don't use say it quickly or nervously. Instead make it smooth, laid-back, and even slow and easy practice. Focus your ear (Yor inner ear if you are practicing silently) to the rhythm of the mantra in your head as you say it. Imagine it as if you were listening to the mantra on the radio, pay particular attention to the sound of it. Pay close attention to every single repetition and allow the mind to become concentrated and aware of the mantra as a kind of object of inner reference. in time you may begin to feel that the mantra is singing to you or that it is happening by its self, these are good and normal signs of development and can help to teach you that you are not your thinking mind, you are the operator and observer of this thinking mind. If your attention begins to wander, bring it back to the sound of the mantra. If it wanders again, bring it back again. Notice your mind becoming calm and centered.
