During Dale, Jr. Download Episode No. 564 - Elliott & Hermie Sadler: Virginia Is For Brothers, Elliott Sadler recounts his harrowing and hellacious flip he suffered during Happy Hour for the 2000 Kmart 400. Elliott has stated that NASCAR showed him footage of the wreck after the incident, but would never show the clip to the public. The reason was that the car was over the catchfence and NASCAR didn't want that seen to the public. Elliott also revealed in the interview that he raced with a concussion. I wanted to show the interview and the only public footage of the accident, which was shown during the CBS broadcast of the Kmart 400. I didn't remember until seeing the race again, but Elliott tore up the racetrack in 11 places, including the wall. He started flipping down the frontstretch but ended up in turn 1, maybe around 1500 feet down the road. Seeing how extensive the damage was, I seem to believe the car may indeed went higher than the catchfence.
