Teratomas are tumors found in newborns that can grow to be as big as the baby. http://fetalsurgery.chop.edu Teratomas are a type of fetal tumor derived from stem cells that appear during prenatal development. The cause of teratomas is unknown. Treatment typically involves surgical removal of the mass (resection of the tumor). Fetal tumors can be an extremely stressful and difficult diagnosis for expectant mothers and families. In this video, you’ll meet a patient family diagnosed with a fetal tumor and hear from experts at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. N.
