All Individual Channels in my Drive! https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/fo... As requested by @t.y.m.n6438 ! Look I know this is out of nowhere basically but inspiration just struck one day and I had been wanting to do a Slider (that’s right YouTube this is the Slider theme which plays in Rainbow Ride) remix ever since I saw the request pop up. After this I’ll be starting the winner of the poll. Hope you all enjoy it! =================================== Composition Notes: This arrangement is based off of the coffee shop style jazz of Sky (Super Mario 3D World) [Edit], obviously lol. The kicker though is that unlike that piece, the original is not jazz, so I had to reinterpret a lot of the original bluegrass parts - the fun part! I also wanted to challenge myself by not using half-time drums, which meant I was pushed to use more creative solutions to compensate for the fast pace - Sky (Super Mario World) [Edit] proved that you can stay uptempo but still have that mellow edit-theme feel. I was listening to versions of Slider with the melody removed and I noticed that the chord progression was already really funky, and that there’s a cool syncopated rhythm on the backing pianos, which I adapted into the guitar part in Channel 3 to get started. I then transcribed the bass line directly because I felt that it could work as a walking bass line (Channel 1), and added swing drums (Channel 2). From there, I had a full rhythm section, and I could just go off! The piano in channel 5 was first, which I chose to cover the prominent countermelody parts which were played by Whistle, Fiddle II, and the Banjo in the original. I ran into an issue in the B section where the whistle part becomes the main melody - I ultimately decided to keep it but reinterpret it as a backing part to comp a breakdown/sax solo section. Speaking of - the Saxes in Channel 6 were super fun to write! I initially had horn hits playing on that channel too, but thanks to some feedback I decided to mellow it back out; as a result I redid the C section as something a lot more syncopated to keep the solidity of the song’s climax intact without pushing too much energy. I added a brief clarinet part to channel 4 around then because I just bought the VST and wanted to use it lol. I tested the A section with the above parts but realized it felt a bit empty - which is when I realized the low end of the mix was basically nonexistent when the bass was muted. So I added the Channel 7 organ to help fill it out, making sure to do some interesting countermelodies during the C section to maintain the syncopation. Then the last issue was what to do when the drum line would be muted - so I made a bunch of auxiliary percussion parts, and distributed them between some of the other channels (like in 3D world Sky Edit) and dumped the rest into Channel 4. What, not every choice I make has to be “inspired”! =================================== Super Mario Maker Font created by Quinn Davis, SonicFontsHD, and Dale Thiessen.
