Family Simm - Steffisburg Rundweg

Steffisburg is a small town a short ride from Thun in the Bernese Oberland. It is nestled in the foot hills of the Swiss Alps. The Rundweg (circular way) is about 7km long and tales around 2 hours. It follows the Zulg river for the first half before climbing 200m and returning towards Steffisburg. The climb in the middle can be a bit difficult if it has been raining, which when we did the walk it had been raining for days. The climb can be quite muddy underfoot in this situation so good footwear and polls would be advisable. In the dry it should be fairly easy. There is a Hofladen just after the climb offering dried meats and apple juice which was appreciated during our walk. On returning to Steffisburg there are several restaurants offering lunchtime deals at good prices. We visited Restaurant Bären which prides itself on sustainability. We had soup and fish goujons with polenta.
