Trying to convince their victim and maybe even themselves that they can’t help their behavior. That any other way would lead to them becoming their own victim. Musically I’ve used strong contrasts in instrumentation and harmony to further underline the schizophrenic nature of the lyrics. Starting out with acoustic guitar and electronic percussion, rapidly building to a full-on live band sound, with the idea of drawing the listener into this character’s chaotic mindset.
