David and Jennifer Arms are dishing up a barbecue dream here in Monroe County—and they're not shy about spreading the news. The grill masters serve up barbecue so good, Jennifer says, "it will make you squeal." Their restaurant is named for David's mother, who operated the original restaurant just outside Tompkinsville. Now located not far from the downtown on 418 East Fourth Street, Frances BBQ welcomes one and all to enjoy charcoal-grilled meats—pork shoulder is a favorite—in their special barbecue sauce. This area is known for its vinegar-based sauces, but the Arms couple isn't divulging their secret recipe. Their fans come from far and wide and include country music singer John Anderson (of "Just a-Swingin'" fame).
