JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Jonesboro police released the names of those involved in a robbery ending with the suspects crashing, killing one Saturday night. According to an incident report, Jonesboro police responded on Oct. 3 at 6:53 p.m. to a robbery in progress at Dollar General, 5431 Southwest Drive. The Black Lives Matter Chapter in Memphis was informed about the incident shortly after it happened and retrieved the 911 call from Jonesboro Police. Four suspects were listed Lakita A. Davis, 35, Tavia Jackson, 18, and Tacorion Golden, 20, all of Memphis, Tenn. According to Sally Smith, public information specialist for the Jonesboro Police Department, Davis was the driver. One suspect was a 16-year-old Black/African American male. Merchandise stolen from the store includes a lighter, 5 Hour Energy pack, paper towels, and laundry products. The total value was only $30. Police seized a black Glock 30, a Winchester .45 ACP shell casing, and three Winchester .45 ACP cartridges. The firearm and accessories belonged to Davis. The vehicle in the incident was a 2018 Silver Honda Civic. According to a post on the JPD Facebook page, the suspect vehicle fled the scene and headed north on Southwest Drive. The driver reportedly refused to stop and crashed during the chase by Jonesboro police and Arkansas State Police. A desk sergeant said ASP had to use a PIT (pursuit intervention technique) maneuver to get the vehicle to stop. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene, the other three suspects were transported to local hospitals. ASP is assisting with the investigation. Due to poor lighting, officers were unable to locate the vehicle initially. Officers were later able to locate the vehicle, which had traveled approximately 250 feet after leaving the roadway. The suspect vehicle was overturned and had struck a tree head-on. Officers were able to extract three occupants from the vehicle. Officer Eric Johnson, with the Jonesboro Police Department, advised the fourth occupant, Davis, was located in the driver's seat but was unresponsive with no pulse. Officers were unable to remove Davis from the vehicle to attempt to perform life-saving measures. Sergeant Davis located a handgun in her close proximity, which was seized at that time by the Jonesboro Police Department. Sergeant Davis advised Jonesboro dispatch to contact the coroner and then the Jonesboro Fire Department was brought in to extract Davis from the vehicle. Emerson Ambulance Service transported the three other occupants to St. Bernard’s Hospital with various injuries. Other items of evidentiary value were collected on scene by the Jonesboro Police Department. Davis was turned over to Coroner Jordan Foust once the Jonesboro Fire Department extracted her. Terry's Towing later arrived on scene and was able to recover the vehicle. For further, see Jonesboro Police Department incident number 09897 and Arkansas State Police CID file number ASP-2020-1200.
