Bach to School is an innovative and imaginative educational outreach program that was launched in 1993 and has now been presented for more than 70,000 children. Each year Bach to School presents eight assembly programs (each lasting approximately one hour) in school districts throughout the Lehigh Valley and in the surrounding region, reaching a total of more than 5000 students. The programs are presented in November, December and April by an ensemble of approximately 30 singers and 15 instrumentalists, conducted by Greg Funfgeld. Different versions of the program are targeted for elementary, middle and high schools. All Lehigh Valley school districts are invited to apply for participation in the program on a rotating basis except for Bethlehem Area School District, which has an ongoing commitment to participate every year. Bach At Noon - Members of The Bach Choir and Festival Orchestra perform a free noontime concert on the 2nd Tuesday of Sept., Oct., Nov., Jan., Feb., March, and April under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor, Greg Funfgeld. Mr. Funfgeld gives an informal introduction to the music. An annual Family Concert is presented by The Choir and orchestra. The theme varies. this year's concert will explore the genius and creativity of young composers. All the works in this years concert were written by composers under the age of 25 including pieces by the young Bach, Mozart and others. Games and stories will help engage our young listeners in learning about the art of musical composition. The centerpiece of the concert is the performance of two new choral works by young composers from the Lehigh Valley, winners of a competition for K-12 students sponsored by The Bach Choir of Bethlehem.
