With stunning surf beaches, fantastic coastal walks and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We then walked along the Mount Coolum Boardwalk, explored First Bay, and climbed Mount Coolum. Along the Esplanade are a variety of surf and swimwear shops, fashion boutiques, cafes and fish and chip shops. Opposite the Esplanade is Tickle Park, a large grassy park with a playground, toilets, picnic areas, and access to Coolum Main Beach. Coolum Main Beach is a popular surf beach patrolled year-round by the Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club. From the Surf Club, we walked along the Coolum Boardwalk, this is a lovely wide boardwalk over the Point Perry Foreshore Reserve with fantastic views over Coolum Beach. The Mount Coolum boardwalk is a lovely short walk that starts near Breezeway Street in Mount Coolum. The raised wooden boardwalk meanders through paperbark trees and native flora in the Marcoola-Yaroomba Foreshore Bushland Conservation Reserve. There are several information boards along the way to learn more about the area and the flora and fauna. The walk finishes at the beach, which is patrolled in the summer months. As you wander back along the boardwalk, there are stunning views of Mount Coolum. First Bay Beach is located south of Coolum Main Beach and is a beautiful and secluded bay that is perfect for relaxing, swimming and exploring the many rock pools. Mount Coolum’s impressive dome shape rises 208 metres above sea level, and the walking track to the top is extremely popular, with half a million people hiking up each year. The walking track starts in the Mount Coolum National Park, and the hike is 1.6 kilometres return and rated as moderate; there are also 600 stone steps. The first part of the track is a rocky path that meanders through open forest and bushland. Then, the steps begin as you head up the rocky mountainside. You will have 360-degree panoramic views over the Sunshine Coast and hinterland at the summit.
