Hello Friends old and new! Lots of good info, notes and resources inside: This video shows my Twill gamp process from start to finish on the loom. Grab your weaving and craft while I babble away! I am working in a few different yarns as I had trouble with the supply chain and cost of supplies, so I pulled from my scarf yarn stash. My initial plan was to use only 70% Merino, 30% Silk for the entire fiber content. You will see I used silk merino for weft and dividers. My ground warp is undyed wool. I also wove a second gamp in superfine highland on the same warp. Sleyed at 12.5epi in a 10 dent heddle. All yarn is fingering weight though the second weft is closer to a light fingering/ heavy lace. I mention in the video issues with tension that caused me to completely rebeam my warp. The process was quick and easy and I was initially going to start the video over, but decided to leave the first unfinished gamp in as a reference for tension's impact on weaving. I did not film rebeaming, but it was as simple as winding on to the front under tension, and then tying on to the back clean, evening tension. For the second gamp, I repeated the straight draw treadling for consistency, and then followed with some M & W style twill variations which are my absolute favorite at the moment. These are a visual diary for myself and to share with others my abilities as they progress over time. I am just a practicing fiber artist and a student of my own interests If you are looking for a teacher, I recommend: School of Sweet Georgia/Felicia Lo: Web: https://www.schoolofsweetgeorgia.com/ YT: / sweetgeorgiayarns Kelly Casanova: Web: https://kellycasanovaweavinglessons.com/ YT: / kellycasanova Wet Finishing I used this project: Curly N Yarny YT: / curlynyarny Mylena's Wet Finishing Video: • Wet Finishing Handwoven Projects: How I Fi... Plus: other sources like your local weaver’s guild or Jane Stafford’s online guild and textile school. There are so many great weavers out there and here on YouTube for reference and camaraderie! I am enrolled at the School of Sweet Georgia and highly recommend it. I find the episodes digestible and the takeaways add useful reflection and techniques to my practice. The project shared in this video is a Twill Gamp from the ongoing Weaving Study Group at the school. You can find the pattern by enrolling there. My multishaft loom is the Louët Erica 50cm 4 shaft variant. I adore it for affordability and portability. I have had no sacrifices in cloth quality by paying a more affordable price! Music by the amazingly talented Lofi Geek: / lofigeek / lofigeek ** General video notes: apologies the music was a bit loud between 7-9 minutes but I live mix my voiceovers and music and did not adjust. I apologize for any pauses, or sync issues, I prefer to think of the right word the first time rather than repeatedly correct myself. I think life could use a bit of a slow down in that way. I am watching on my iPad as I edit voiceovers so sync may not be perfect! **
