This NETEC webinar presentation, "PPE from A to Z: Exploring the Latest Standards and Regulations for Health Care Personnel," provides updates to the standards for liquid barrier protection of PPE in health care facilities. Experts in PPE, infection prevention, and PPE standards development discuss PB70, the updated standard for Barrier Performance from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and what that means for those who choose, purchase, and wear protective garments in health care. Panelists: Jill Morgan, RN - Moderator Jill Morgan is a nurse at Emory University Hospital. She has been on Emory's biocontainment team for over 15 years where she has cared for patients with Ebola virus disease and Lassa fever. Jill is co-lead for the PPE working group for NETEC and has recently been appointed to the National Academies Committee on Personal Protective Equipment and Workplace Safety and Health. Brooke Henriksen, BSN, RN, CCRN Brooke is the Training and Education Coordinator for the Special Pathogens Program in Region 10 at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital (PSHMC&CH) in Spokane, Washington. She is a co-chair for the NETEC PPE work group. Brooke is also a member of the NETEC Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) work group and the Biocontainment Unit (BCU) work group. Jill Holdsworth, CIC, FAPIC, NREMT, CRCST Jill Holdsworth is the infection prevention manager at Emory University Hospital Midtown. She received a Master of Science degree from Marshall University in Exercise Science and started her career as a cardiac rehab therapist before beginning work as infection preventionist in 2009. Jill is a certified EMT and a volunteer with the Emory EMS program, is certified in sterile processing through HSPA as a CRCST, and was the 2022 HSPA Certification Council Chairman. She is a AAMI Protective Barriers Committee co-chair, and serves on the APIC National Board of Directors and the ASHREA 170 committee. Caroline Croyle Persson, MPH, MPA, CPH, CIC Caroline Croyle Persson is the Program Director for the Mountain Plains Regional Disaster Health Response System and biocontainment unit at Denver Health. Her work focuses on healthcare emergency management, coordination and collaboration, and capacity building to enhance healthcare preparedness and response efforts. Prior to her current role, Mrs. Persson worked in infection prevention and control with a focus on influenza, emergency management, high risk pathogens, program and policy management, hand hygiene, and regulatory compliance.
