Mocha Diffusion

Mocha Diffusion demonstration showing three different acid-stain solutions as a catalyst for creating dendritic designs onto the surface of ceramic greenware. Upon contact with an alkaline based slip, you can see the magic happen in front of you. All three solutions have 15% stain added to the acidic solution. Specifically, 15g stain to 100g fluid. Here I’m using tobacco tea which consists of tobacco infused water that was made using 17g pipe tobacco with roughly 550g of boiling water and left to cool. It was then strained and put into a jar. In this demonstration, the infusion was mixed with 15g chrome oxide. The Listerine solution was not diluted. 15 grams black Mason stain (cobalt free) was added. For the last acid solution, 100g undiluted low sodium soy sauce was mixed with 15g Dark Red Mason Stain.
