Ever since March of 2020 hit, the growing concern with air travel and its safety has resulted in a massive loss in revenue for almost all airlines around the world. Air Canada is no exception, as the flag carrier is losing an estimated 22 million dollars per day due to the Covid-19 crisis. On top of these glaring statistics, passenger safety continues to be a point of focus as airlines slowly start to re-introduce certain flights with no physical distancing onboard. The first of two flights with Air Canada took me to Calgary on their Airbus A320. Toronto Pearson Airport has done a great job in keeping people as safe as possible, with many hand sanitizing stations, masks on all employees, as well as a temperature check prior to entering CATSA security. Social distancing was followed successfully at Pearson, however, just one day prior to my flight, Air Canada announced the cancellation of all distancing on all flights, and as a result, my flight had about 75% of the maximum PAX load onboard. With everyone wearing a face covering, cabin movement being limited, and the care kits coming into use, passengers are slowly starting to gain trust in airline safety once again as flights open back up.
