7 BEST THINGS TO DO IN THE CRUISE PORT OF ARRECIFE - THE CAPITAL OF LANZAROTE, CANARY ISLANDS, SPAIN

Cruise lines are always trying to push shore excursions and while I do occasionally do them, I also really like exploring independently. Arrecife - the capital of the canary Island of Lanzarote - is REALLY easy to access from the port and is particularly well sign-posted for walkers. Before I went there on my recent cruise I was looking for a 'best things to do in Arrecife' article online, but I couldn't find one. Instead I gleaned tidbits from different sources and now hope that with my video it will help future cruisers work out what they want to do in Arrecife. Just so you know you need to allow about an hour to walk from cruise port to the beach Playa del Reducto which is the furthest point I suggest going in this video and is right the other side of town. It's beyond San Gabriel castle. The 7 best things I suggest seeing/doing are: 1. Charco san Gines - a stunning inland lagoon area 2. Visit Castillo San Gabriel - it's the remains of a 14th century castle/fort 3. Visit Castillo San Jose - the artist Cesar Manrique turned this castle into a stunningly landscaped art gallery - there are some of his pieces inside it 4. Go to the beach - there's a small one right near the port, but much prettier is the one the other side of town - Playa del Reducto 5. Stroll to Plaza de las Palmas - it's stunning - and pop into it's church 6. Stroll to the Alley 'El Aguaresio' which is behind the church and connects the plaza to Charco San Jose 7.
