In January, the railway between Worcester and Hereford underwent major renewal works, including across the Ledbury viaduct, a Victorian structure built in 1859-60. Over a 6-day closure, Network Rail and its partner Central Rail Systems Alliance (CRSA) replaced 485 yards of track, installed 1,800 tonnes of new ballast and laid 1,348 composite sleepers across the viaduct, enhancing the railway and improving journeys for passengers. Working on a historic bridge like this required extra care and precautions, and given the scale and complexity of the work, ensuring both the safety of the workforce and streamlined operations was paramount. As such, CRSA worked with Tended’s partner RSS Infrastructure Ltd (RSSI) to deploy geotagging technology to improve safety and enhance worksite visibility during these major works.
