REUPLOAD. Been meaning to do this for a while. "If I can't win back my family's honour by being a soldier. Then I'll do it by finding the lost eagle" This is an underrated film and soundtrack! The Eagle is one of the few depictions that I have seen on Roman Britain. This film is based on a novel, so I'm not fully sure this was based on a real event. However, the film displays the sentimental importance of a Roman legion's standard brilliantly. Many standards had different depictions of the Emperor, Serpents, and of course Eagles, along with other imagery. If a legion was to lose their standard, it would face dishonour. This is because the standards had 'SPQR' imprinted on them and so this represented Rome. To lose this, would mean great disrespect upon Rome itself! These were carried into battle as an intimidation tactic to say that Rome is here and is very powerful.
