Hike with me from highway 29 to the top of Mount Saint Helena. ---Location: Robert Louis Stevenson State Park, on the Boarders of Napa, Lake and Sonoma Counties in California. ---Distance: Roughly 11 miles. ---Website: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=472 ---Setting: The first mile is a single track trail covered in trees. After the first mile the trail follows a fire road to the top. ---Views: From the summit you can clearly see the Pacific Ocean to the west, much of the bay area to the south, and Lake and Mendocino counties to the north. On a clear day you can seen into the Central Valley to the west and Mount Shasta to the north. ----History: The park got its name because Robert Louis Stevenson spent some time here in 1880. After he and his bride exhausted their honeymoon funds in the resorts of Calistoga, they moved to an abandoned mining camp on the side of the mountain.
